Fresh Graduates as New Employee

What fresh graduates should do, as new employee. All of you might be thrilled to get a dream job in a dream company with expected job description, nice colleagues, caring boss, and all of the good stuff listed. But do you know? When you’re in a professional environment, things might not be the same.

It’s not the same, because remember, they are not your family who could understand you well, or even a mentor to help you in every step. You should know how to act  professionally, and stay humble.

That’s why it’s important to do a little research about a company’s history, achievement, and any other detailed information. By doing that, you’ll be able to have a description in mind about that company.

Then what else? You need to learn their culture, by how they behave. Remember, you will experience little adjustment from sudden transition to a professional environment.

Professional environment transition seems so stressful for fresh graduates. But no worries, our summary from some sources might help you to find, what a fresh graduate should do in those kinds of situations.

Less Absent

Maybe there’s a particular reason to not come to work in a day, just make sure it’s not often. They haven’t seen your potential and skills, too much absent makes you seem lazy and less disciplined.

Avoid Gossiping

Maybe it’s a simple thing to avoid, but as a fresh graduate, can you do that?. It is not a nice thing, when your colleagues talk behind someone’s back, in this situation, you need to pretend to not know and not care at all.

Keep Yourself Busy

When you’re in a meeting or conference call don’t be a silent reader, tryna make yourself busy when somebody is talking, like taking notes or whatever. After that, do not hesitate to ask a question to a fellow member, if something is not really clear.

Be Neutral

In an office, does not rule out the possibility there is an informant among employees. The informant might be the right-hand man for managers. Whenever they tell you any office secrets, you don’t have to take it seriously and always be neutral.

Don’t get distracted by a humor

As a human, we might be able to laugh, even in an office it’s normal. But sometimes, we have to know when to stop, because you will get distracted, and your job wouldn’t be done soon, just because of simple humor.

Respect Everybody

When you’re new, all eyes might be on you, everything you did, they will know and judge you in the dark. You don’t have to make an assumption about yourself, just be respectful to them and prove them wrong.

Memorize Everything About Your Manager

Remember when the HR Staff introduces you to the manager, memorize everything about him, his face, his desk, and his responsibility. This way, will build a good bond while showing some respect.

We all know, it’s kinda a mixed feeling as a new employee in the workplace, especially the nervousness and excitement in a new environment.

One thing you should know is, never be so hard on yourself, those feelings are normal, you just need to follow those steps, be confident as a new employee.
